It's up and running again!

One whole night confusion that haunted me finally flew away today. Standing up after frustration of burnt PSU and faulty graphic card finally ends today! :)

Today, at 10, I went to Ipoh with Qadir and Ijat to fix my PC. Alhamdulillah, the burnt PSU did not fry the motherboard and other components connected to it. After hours of surveying for parts around Ipoh, I finally decided to settle with Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 460W PSU (RS-460-PCAR-A3) to replace the old ones. Although this can be considered in the mid-range type, this PSU should power up my system without any hiccups. Future wise, this PSU can power another to hard disk drive whenever I want to upgrade for more space and RAIDing them for data protection.

As for the graphic card, I've chosen XFX NVidia GeForce 8600GT 256 MB DDR3 to replace my Forsa NV43's GeForce 6600. This I hope should perform better than the old ones in terms of stability and performance. So, I'm offering you the old ones with unbelievable price as second hand unit. Email or call/sms me to know more.

Enough talking, I have my PC up and running, so I guess I should start doing my work. Thanks to Ijat for giving me ride to Ipoh and Qadir for carrying my things. I can see from my windows now that it is raining out there. Bantai tdo sedap nih~ Hahahaha~ till then, bye~

Horrible Week, no, yes?

This week's a hell for me. I can expect heavy downpour in the afternoon and made me wet after the lectures. Thanks to the Foster and ntahsape2 who designed the academic complex of UTP. It is undeniable that the design is state-of-the-art (mind you that this building won Aga Khan award in 2007) but unfortunately hiring a foreigner to design building in the tropical country was a very serious mistake. The roof is so high that it useless to cover the people below from the torrential tropical rain. Walking from one block to another is real disaster and I was soaking wet by just walking from pocket D to class at block 21! I dunno what to say since I'm stuck in here until I graduate.

And for the first time, there was no black cloud during Analogue II lab. My oscillator circuit finally work like a charm. And for the first time me and my lab partner, Ana finished the lab and submit the lab report 1 hour earlier than the stipulated time. That entitled me to have a very peaceful lunch with Ana and friends.

I hope that will be a good sign despite the heavy afternoon downpour for the week. My PC suddenly switched off during Control System tutorial today. When I opened the case, I found out that my graphic card's fan blade was broken in two. That is a very peculiar problem. And I thought the reason my PC switched off is to prevent the GPU (graphic processing unit) from overheating. So I took out the graphic card and tried to power up my rig without it. Still, the system refused to switch on. Upon further investigation, I found out that the PSU (power supply unit) is completely burnt. The coil burnt so badly that it fry the circuit board around it. Guess I need to buy a new one. Damn! For now, I can just pray hard that the burnt PSU doesn't fry my motherboard too. Amin~

Sorry for the late updates!

Internet connection woes [sudden disconnections from several websites including Blogger], hectic life in UTP and the list goes on... Sorry for not updating this blog for weeks. Baru hari ni la dapat masuk Blogger utk update.

Nothing much to talk about. The most recent event was the departure of my fellow friend Hazmi Hijazi to Japan last week. He is pursuing his study in engineering in Japan. Thanks to Aizat for troubling himself to pick me and Syahidah in UTP and drove all the way from Banting just to pick us up. Thanks dude~ We will never forget that. The long and troublesome journey really paid us off as we were managed to meet Hazmi in KLIA to say farewell to him. Only me, Aizat, Syahidah and Arbaiyah were there to send Hazmi off to Japan. It was really meaningful to me and I hope [I believe all of our fellow colleagues too] Hazmi will do well in his study there. Good luck!

Owh, UTP is conducting TEC exhibition a.k.a sort of career day today. But I don't have chance yet to visit the booths there. Hope I will have some time to go there. Ok, I need to stop now as I have EMT class at 2. Bye!
