It's Over

Officially, today is the end of my hectic 3rd year 1st semester. The extreme excitement seeps into my vein (and maybe artery) when my Power Systems I answer booklet was taken by the invigilator at the Main Hall. I just can't describe this feeling. I will be leaving UTP tomorrow, stay at home and look forward to internship (although the company conned me by revising the allowance payment to RM300) on this coming first day of December. I will not be around UTP for approximately 8 months. I will miss the ambient here (sandy and dusty Tronoh), will miss the people (read: babes), DC++ (I frequent this local P2P network to download 3GPs, movies, series especially Knight Rider and Top Gear), the cafe food and most of all; the first and second roundabout from UTP gate (in front of the Masjid and Main Hall). I love driving hard around those roundabout to induce powerslide (in auto car? Not really...). Shift down to 2nd, drive to the apex, some heel and toe, floor the gas and feel the rear wiggle (a bit) and exit the corner. No countersteer, no braking (what could you expect from an FF layout of a Kancil auto?). I bid farewell to UTP and the people, drive safely home and enjoy the holiday. Nonetheless, I would miss this alma mater for the next semester despite the eagerness to leave this place now. :)

p/s: Haven't start packing yet. Help me, anyone? I need to move things from the 3rd floor!!!

One more to go!

  • Electrical Machines I
  • Engineering Economics and Entrepreneurship
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • Power Electronics I
  • Power Systems I
Yes, you read me. One more paper to go, due on this Thursday. Can't wait to finish this gruesome semester. I feel really tired finishing this semester. I feel like this is the worst semester I ever had in UTP. Just name it, ETP, projects, event, all had driven me crazy. And this really have adverse effect on my health. I went to UTP clinic today just to check my blood pressure (BP) and the manometer gives out the systolic/diastolic reading of shocking 140/110 (mmHg). You can know what this means here. This really freaks me out as I am only 21 (going 22 in 3 months). Does this really have to do with my current emotional state? Hurm, I just prayed for my health...

Tagged! (akibat merayau2 di blog orang)

Semangat untuk study DSP tak datang lagi. Taknak cakap banyak, disebabkan merayau2 di blog Cikun, xpasal2 tau yg aku da kne tag. Hahaha~ Layan je la...

7 perkara tentang Afiq @ Afiqms

  1. Tinggi aku approx. 170 cm dan berat badan yg sgt 'ideal', range 48-50kg. Tak pernah lepas 50 kg, so kalo sape2 ade tips yg simple dan xgune byk duit nk bg berat badan aku naek, bole la kontek ye.
  2. Skang ni tgh menuntut di UTP (Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Perak) dalam jurusan Kejuruteraan Elektrikal & Elektronik (kod kursus EE400 dan dalam bahase kampungnye org slalu sebot Electrical & Electronic Engineering). Skang ni tgh berhempas-pulas menghabiskan tahun ke-3 semester pertama dan akan menjalani latihan industri (Industrial Internship) tak lame lagi, bermula 1/12/2008 di Synergistic Generation Sdn. Bhd.
  3. Kalo nak kate hobi tu, cam xde la sgt sbab xde mende pon yg aku buat slalu as hobi. Kalo kat UTP ni, online je la kejenye sbab internet dlm bilek kan. Kat umah aku xde internet, so agak terbatas la. Kalo kat umah lak, sbab xde keje laen, aku ske jalan2 nek kete. Ske drive sbnrnye tp kat UTP xleh nk drive sbab bwk moto saje.
  4. Dlm bidang sukan plak (acewah), aku sbnrnye agak mendak. Walaupon roommate aku (Qadir namenye) ajak maen bola petang2, xpnahnye aku join. Sori arr roommate! Tp kalo badminton, mmg aku x tolak kalo org ajak. Mungkin sbab aku xterer lgsg maen bola tp aku bole maen badminton (walaupon xde la hebat sgt). To put it simple, aku lg ske maen badminton.
  5. Sgt suke buat kawan baru and socializing in the positive way. Aku enjoy sgt pegi program2 outdoor (kem motivasi, camping) sbab dpt kenal dgn sume org. Tapi aku x selalu dpt peluang tu. Tp kwn2 ni kat mane2 pon bole buat (refer to my previous post).
  6. Kepakaran tu, herm xde la sgt. But I have quite extensive know how in computers (preferably hardware) and cameras. Stakat nk format PC, assemble PC from scratch to bole la. Ske amek gamba bile ade peluang (sebab xde kamera sniri) and looking forward to own my own D-SLR (EOS 450, anyone?).
  7. Utk hiburan plak, aku xltakkan aku ske band mane or actor mane in particular. Kalo movie/series aku ske yg ade lawak slapstic (cam Simpsons, Southpark, Family Guy, Shin Chan, Spongebob), perang2 (Band of Brothers), ade race & kete (Initial D, Fast and Furious, The Italian Job, Top Gear, Fifth Gear), hacking2 (Die Hard 4, Wargames) dan jugak yg aku rase mnarek (Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang). Lagu2 plak, aku more to easy listening (oldies, jazzy songs), Indonesian bands (Dewa, Padi, Element) and Indie band (Estrella, Hujan, Laluna).

Final Exam Semester July 2008

It is finally here! 5 subjects with final exam paper, completed 2, are ready to confine my life for two weeks (11/11/2008 - 20/11/2008). But yet, I don't know why I still have effort to update this blog despite the 'snailing slow' internet connection in UTP. Maybe this due to undescribable fear to DSP (Digital Signal Processing) paper tomorrow afternoon. I have not start any revision now, that's why I try to write some here hoping that the intention to study will come to me afterwards. Hehehe... Up to now, I have sat for two papers, Electrical Machines I and Engineering Economy. Yet to come: DSP, Power Electronics, Power Systems. How am I doing so far? Emmm... Manageable I would say. I'm hoping for better situation in the following papers.

I'm really looking forward to end this mental torture (read: final exam) quickly. I even hope that I could skip it and go directly to industrial intership. Synergistic Generation Sdn. Bhd. in Kota Kemuning is where the internship will take place. I am really excited just thinking about it. Furthermore, it is closer to home. So, starting from 1/12/2008 to 10/7/2008, I will be at home most of the time. Hope this can be a good turning point to rearrange and reconfigure myself. Hahaha~ More info at www.sgeneration.com.my

Winamp Short Cut Keys

Maybe some of us do not realize that we can maximize the use of our PC/laptop/nettop using short cut keys. We can work more efficiently (read: working with various softwares at once) using short cut keys as we don't have to hover around the screen using mouse especially if the work is intensive on using the keyboard (typing, chatting, AutoCADing for example). I bet most of us working while listening to our MP3s collection using Winamp. Here I would like to share with you the 'global' hot keys to control your Winamp. Using Ctrl+Alt keys combination, we can control the playback of songs in Winamp. I said global because we don't have to switch to Winamp first to use the hot keys. It will work on any active windows, let say you are surfing the net using Google Chrome, just hit the Ctrl+Alt+specified keys to change track or even control the volume level without switching to Winamp first. Here is the list of short cut keys and the functions or you can refer to the diagram below (do not forget the Ctrl+Alt combinations!) :

  • Ctrl+Alt+Insert (Play the song)
  • Ctrl+Alt+Home (Pause)
  • Ctrl+Alt+PageUp (Change to previous song in the playlist)
  • Ctrl+Alt+PageDown (Change to the next song in the playlist)
  • Ctrl+Alt+End (Stop)
  • Ctrl+Alt+UpArrow (increase volume level)
  • Ctrl+Alt+DownArrow (decrease volume level)
  • Ctrl+Alt+LeftArrow (Rewind the currently played song)
  • Ctrl+Alt+RightArrow (Fast forward the currently played song)

Have fun trying! :)

p/s: Why Delete key is not used? Because Ctrl+Alt+Delete is reserved exclusively to load Task Manager in Windows OS. Huhuhuh~ :)

It takes a red light stop to make a friend

At a traffic light in front of Unitata (M) Sdn. Bhd. soap factory in Hutan Melintang,

PHC6454: Balik mane?
BJG3564: Banting.
PHC6454: Lalu Klang ye?
BJG3564: Haah.

And the traffic light turned to green. We engaged in 1st gear and continue our journey.

BJG3564: [Wondering] Apsal la mamat ni cam follow aku je? Kalo nk potong tu, potong je la. Aku bkan match ko la nk race ngan ko. Tau la ko pny moto 125cc, aku nye 110cc, Kristar plak tu.

*FYI, Modenas made bikes are known with the heavy body and chassis, making it a little sluggish in terms of accelaration compared to the bike from the other manufacturer like Yamaha or Honda which are lighter.

Upon reaching Sabak Bernam, PHC6454 rider gave me hand gesture to ride beside him. Then he lifted up his visor.

PHC6454: Solat same nak tak? Ade masjid dpan ni.
BJG3564: Ok, boleh gak.

We turn right into small town of Sabak Bernam and went to the nearby mosque. Friday prayer had just over when we arrived. So, we parked our bikes in the mosque compound and went to the ablution area.

PHC6454: Boleh tahan besa beg ko ek? Ko tgk aku, beg kecik je naek moto.
BJG3564: Biase la bang, nk basoh x sempat.
PHC6454: Hahaha... Ko mmg pandai...
PHC6454: Name ko sape? Keje ke blaja?
BJG3564: Afiq. Blaja lagi, kat UTP. Abg ni sape plak?
PHC6454: Ridzwan. Amek sains masyarakat kat USM. Tp keje la. Amek pendidikan jarak jauh. Keje kat navy.
BJG3564: Bahagian mane?
PHC6454: Radar.

Then we went right to the ablution area and perform ablution. Then we perform solat jamak qasar zuhur and asar together. We prayed for our safety of our journey that still has balance of about 200 km along the kampung road (but it is actually a 4-lane federal trunk road connecting from Lumut to Klang and then to Banting).

After the prayer, we went to our bikes at the mosque compound.

BJG3564: Balek mane?
PHC6454: Kajang. Nak jumpe tunang. Aku orang Sarawak, die pon same gak. Keje tukang jahit kat ctu.
BJG3564: Oooo... xlame lg kawen la ni?
PHC6454: Haah, ujung taon ni. Ni balek pon sbab nk jumpe die utk uruskan hal kawen kitorg la ni. Umor aku pon da 32 taon.
BJG3564: Oooo, cmtu kesahnye. Xpela, nnt berenti stesen minyak Petronas Sekinchan. Nk isi minyak.

We rode our bike to the town and stop at a red lights. Glancing at my bike's fuel gauge, the needle had reached the 'Empty' mark:

PHC6454: Ko bia btol, bole smpi ke ni? Sekinchan jaoh lg tu. (it is about 30 km actually)
BJG3564: Xpe, boleh smpi punye. Abg full throttle je, jgn tahan2. Sy mmg da kire kalo full tank boleh pegi 130 km. Jgn risau.
PHC6454: Ko da biase lalu jalan ni. Xpe la, ko lead je, aku ikot.

The lights turned green and we sped our bike to continue our journey. When stopping at a traffic light junction not far from Sabak Bernam, he lost control of his bike and fell right behind me because of slippery road. Luckily, it was not severe. Just few small scratches here and there, and bent foot rests.

BJG3564: Ok x ni bang? (while helping him lifting his bike up)
PHC6454: Xpe2, siket je ni. Pedih sket kat lutot je. Jom jalan balek.

The lights turned green and we rode our bike in full throttle, closely tailing each other to minimize wind resistance. We passed the beautiful estuary town of Kuala Selangor and reached Sekinchan. I took the lead again (his bike is 125cc, surely he had advantage on leading), and turned right to Petronas Sekinchan petrol station. I paid RM 10 of fuel (price per litre at that time was RM 2.30, calculate yourself) and the tank is not brimming full (imagine how dry my tank was, hahahaha). We took a rest with corn bread and Kickapoo drink (it was his treat) while he took out his cigarette (Dunhill 20's) and lighter.

PHC6454: Ko isap rokok ke? Amek la satu.
BJG3564: Xpe2, isap la, sy x isap rokok.
PHC6454: Ooooo... yeke? Sorry la ek. (cancelling his intention to smoke and put his cigarette and lighter back in his wrist pouch)
PHC6454: Ok, jom jln.

We geared ourself up while he was checking his right knee to make sure it is ok after the fall. Alhamdulillah, it is just a light scar as he is wearing jeans. And his gloves were torn due to the fall. We started our engine and continue our journey. Klang was severely congested due to roadworks near to Plaza Metro and although we rode motorcycle, we found it hard to squeeze ourselves in the middle of the traffic. Then we stopped at Petronas Johan Setia, just after Klang as he wanted to refuel. Then we had a little chat.

PHC6454: Sbenanye aku nmpk ko mase aku bli rambutan utk tunang aku kat Hutan Melintang tadi. Aku tgk ko laju semacam je, bole ajak join ni. Tu psl aku keja ko sbab nk konvoi same. Slalu ke balek naek moto?
BJG3564: Oooo.. cmtu la plak. Xde gak, kdg2 bwk kete sniri. Tp yg slalu tu tumpang kwn smpi KL then naek bas. Tp leceh la, lame sgt kat jln. Kalo naek moto kjap je.

Then we exchanged number in the middle of the conversation.

PHC6454: Ko ltak je name "Wan Navy". Nnt kalo ko dtg Lumut, ko helo je aku. (mungkin ni bahase navy, die x cakap call tp helo, xpela, bkan aku xpaham pon)

We continued our journey until Sg. Manggis junction.

BJG3564: Ok la bang, smpi sini je la. Sy kene belok kanan nk pegi Banting, abg belok kiri pastu teros je smpi Dengkil. Nnt smpi sane abg ikot je signboard ke Kajang dari situ nnt.
PHC6454: Oooo... Lalu Dengkil dlu ye. Bole2. Ko nnt kalo dtg Lumut ko helo je aku.
BJG3564: Waaa... Bole la tunjok port ikan bakar yg best2 ek?
PHC6454: Tadahal la. Ok la Fiq, aku da lambat ni. Aku pegi dlu. Time kaseh ye, slamat ari raye.
BJG3564: Ok bang, jln elok2. Selamat ari raye. Kalo rase2 xsure, roger je sy (ni slang ape pon aku tatau, da stat tpengaroh sket2 ngan kwn).
PHC6454: Ok, bole2.

And he sped his bike and watch him sped until he was out of my sight. Then I took my bike and went straight back home.

Epilogue

It is not that hard to make friends as long as we treat other people good and sincere with them. Modesty is indeed important here. Yes, I do have friendster account but I do not really prefer making friends online. Internet for me is just a communication channel so that I can get in touch with my friends that are scattered over the world (Aishah, Didi, Anis, Marini in France; Meng in UK; Cikun, Hazmi, Syafiqah in Japan; Kuch, Gope in UNITEN; Bear in Australia; just to name a few, there are lots of them which I can't put it in here, sorry guys :[ ). Meeting with Ridzwan will expand my friends network and I love making friends and acquaitances with people of different background. Who knows we can use some help from them in the future, right? This friendship started on the road (rempit fraternity or brotherhood, anyone?), but no matter how do you meet your friend, no matter where you meet, as long as you have the modesty and sincerity, you can always start a new good friendship. :)

p/s: My longest post, ain't I. Yes, I really treasure this rendez-vous. Somehow, it gives me a little peace in the middle of my emotional turmoil. Maybe this is how Allah help me, this meeting is indeed rejuvenating and motivates me to face my problem that awaits. Most importantly, I really appreciate all my friends. In UTP, my childhood friends in Banting, my fellow SDARians 00'4 and each of my friends around the world. Thank you guys, without all of you, I wouldn't reach to the level I'm sitting now. Just keep in touch ok? :)
