Ayah received a call from Mak Andak early in this morning to inform about her son's death. Abang Hisyam died last night due to difficulty in breathing. A post-mortem will be conducted in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang to find the real cause of his death. Also, this is a basic procedure since he was a police officer and prior to his demise, he was hit by a car and survived the accident. A few day's later, he was readmitted to the hospital after he was complaining about the difficulty in breathing. The burial will undertake after the post-mortem and the body will be brought to Kedah to be buried there. May Allah will bless his soul and may he rest in peace. Al-Fatihah.

Commemorating Warisan 004

I am in the third year of my study in UTP and currently undergoing industrial internship. That means I have been in UTP for four years, starting from July 2005. That also means it has been four years since I left SDAR. How can I forget my beloved alma-mater that has moulded me and provided me platform to be at where I am today. “Once A SDARian is Always A SDARian”, that shall never fade from my soul.

The Warisan 004 members

Today is the day, back in year 2000 when I first enrolled in Sekolah Dato’ Abdul Razak, Seremban. Being a boys’ school, the atmosphere is definitely different but I really cherished the chance that had been awarded to me, that is to study there. My batch was called “Warisan 004” back then. I am lucky to have ‘tasted’ both Jalan Sikamat campus and the current Sungai Gadut campus.

2002

Back in Jalan Sikamat, I cannot forget the Megaway Cendol, G Cybercafe, Mak Ngah’s ‘fly food’ (I only remembered coke susu) and going to Seremban Centrepoint by foot since there are no buses passed by (the yellow Statecoach buses).

In the new campus, everything had been completely changed, positive changes I mean. The ‘lifestyle’ had improved, seniority had been redefined to a better meaning and I really enjoyed my years there. Nothing much can be said for the new campus as it is very secluded, restricting our access to the outer world compared to the Jalan Sikamat campus (SMS Seremban now). Our hope relied on taxi to get us to Seremban, the buses were rarely seen and we had rubber and palm oil plantations flanking us. The best thing for me there is the Merdeka Walk, hosting the Wind Orchestra for three consecutive years and cross-country. Yes, we really mean cross-country since our track were the mixture of tarmac in front of our school, then entered the palm oil plantation, climbing up the hill and descended to the rubber plantation before reaching to the finishing point at our school. Not to forget, Nasi Goreng Warden (Waha’s are the best, Langay is OK too), RM 1.50 with chicken to fill our stomach for supper.

Today, everything has changed. That includes my fellow Warisan comrades as well. Today we are scattered around the globe, locally and abroad, pursuing studies in various disciplines in various languages (Japanese, Germany, French, English, and Russian, to name a few). I’m really proud of you guys. Hope we can meet again reminiscing our nostalgic moments in our beloved alma-mater. I dedicate this post to my fellow Warisan 004 and I’m wishing all of you a happy and prosperous life, now and in the future. I’d really appreciate if you guys can share the most remembered moment back in SDAR by commenting this post. :)

MOQ Delivery Day

Today I have sacrificed my weekend to join the delivery process of MOQ 1600 KVA genset to Pasir Gudang. The work includes moving the genset to the open space in front of Bay 1 so that the big crane can be hooked up to lift up the 60 tonnes genset on to the trailer. The work took the whole day but I thanked Allah as everything is going as planned without any accidents or mishaps. Then we treat ourselves with Shakey’s pizzas to celebrate our success.

Final FAT

The last FAT for MOQ genset was conducted yesterday at our very own fabrication yard. I was directly involved in the procedure, assisting Mr. Zamir and take up readings (phase currents, frequency and phase voltage). The representatives from SDE (Sime Darby Engineering – contractor) and MOQ (Maersk Oil Qatar – client) were also present to witness the test.

It is basically a load test using resistive load banks to simulate the real potential of this emergency diesel generator at the oil platform during power outage. At first, everything went well up to 100% of rated load and then went astray when trying to reach to 110% load. The SGPS team suggested that the bad quality fuel was the culprit. This is because, during the unofficial FAT, the genset can cope with 110% load for one hour with problem with the previous batch of diesel.

So, the highest we can achieve that day is 108%. The delivery is scheduled on Sunday and the problem can be rectified when the good quality diesel is available.

First ‘Real’ OT

Yesterday, my supervisor Mr. Zamir personally asked me and Zopak to do overtime job at the fabrication yard. The purpose is to assist with the electrical works for MOQ 1600 KVA genset since the delivery is due on this Sunday.

The works include the termination of battery charger MCB wiring, laying the big bulky cables and starter motor wiring. The original plan was to conduct unofficial FAT (factory acceptance test) later at night but it could not be carried out due to technical glitches. Me and Zopak finished our job at 1.30 a.m and I slept at Zopak’s place at Seksyen 27, Shah Alam.

Actually I made this post for Aishah who is having difficulties to set up Streamyx dialer for her laptop. After an attempt of guiding her over the phone had failed (sorry, I'm not that good guiding people over the phone), I hope this guide can help Aishah and also my fellow blog readers.

Just a quick introduction, PPPoE stands for Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet. Sekian.

Onto the guide part:

1. Go to Start, and click Control Panel

2. In the Control Panel window, locate Network Connection and double click it.

3. You should now be in the Network Connection window.

4. In that window on the left Network Task should have two option:

(a) Create a new connection

(b) Set up a home or small office network

Choose (a) Create a new connection

5. The New Connection Wizard will Pop-up

• Click Next

• Choose "Connect to the Internet" and Next.

• Choose "Set up my connection manually" and Next.

• Choose "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name
and password" and hit Next.

•Type in Streamyx and click Next

•Fill the User name : eg, Streamyxuser@streamyx
Password : xxxxxxxxx
Confirm Password : xxxxxxxx

Leave the All the box checked Unless you have a Firewall Already running
eg. Zone alarm is installed, Be sure to UNCHECK "Turn on the internet Connection Firewall for this connection".

Click Next.

6. Check the Add a shortcut to this connection to my Desktop, and click Finish

7. Click Connect, and you should be connected to the Internet.

Minggu Pertama Bukak Sekolah

1. Dimulai dengan cirit-birit minor pada hari pertama persekolahan.
2. Main hujan untuk 2 hari dalam perjalanan pulang ke rumah. Selama 2 hari itu jugalah saya terpaksa menukar stokin kerana basah di dalam hujan. Dan 2 hari ini jugalah saya mandi awal sebab basah dek hujan. Huhuhu~
3. Major recabling works for MOQ 1600KVA diesel backup generator. MOQ people requested that the cabling should use LSHF (low smoke halogen free) cables instead of already-fitted flame retardent ones. That had costed me my fingers with cuts here and there during disconnecting the cables, stripping the new LHSF ones and reconnecting them to the equipments inside the generator. I just wish that MOQ would stated clearly in their request at the early stage. But it came to my senses that this design change is very crucial as the generator will operate in very enclosed and limited area of oil drilling platform. During fire, the burning cables should emit less smoke and less toxic to minimize injuries to the workers. Also, compared to the PVC cables, hydrochloric acid (HCl) can be formed (chlorine as a byproduct of the burning PVC insulator and water from the water mist system to extinguish fires), damaging the electronic circuit board inside the computers or other electronic equipment around. Bending the cables are also major challenge for me since the minimum size is 25 mm inside the very limited space.
4. Today (Thursday), I went to Seksyen 7 Shah Alam and have lunch with Anum who is studying in UiTM. I went out for lunch early (around 1230H) and went back to office at around 1500H. Keadaan di pejabat sangat membosankan dan tiada kerja yang boleh dibuat.

p/s: Taknak pegi yard sbab malas nk buat keje (keje psg cable itu bkan keje saye, tapi dibuat atas dasar nk menolong).

Waja woes and Photowhoring

Last weekend had been a tough weekend for me. I was down with flu, neck ache and upset tummy. I cannot stop myself from frequent the toilet for the whole weekend. But fortunately, I am recovering now and I don't have to take leave that will cost me my allowance (mate duitan btol).

On the other hand, my dad's Waja had started to join other Waja with the most popular teething problems found in this particular model. During our journey to KL last Saturday, the fuel pump had started to show early indication of malfunctioning. The pump suddenly stopped and cut the fuel supply to the 4G18 engine. My dad was overtaking a car and suddenly the throttle was not responding, the tachometer registered the decrease in engine revs and the transmission automatically shifted to neutral. My dad had to pull over and stop for a while. After several attempts of cranking the engine, it roared to life again. Further inspection at EON Service Centre had confirmed the aforementioned problem.

The Waja continued her way to join the 'club' when the front left power window malfunctioned too. The power window mechanism failed, common Waja problem. I hope this is not the Proton's marketing strategy, built low priced car with the short lifespan of parts and sell it at a whopping price.

And yesterday I went to KL to meet with my friend, Aishah Roslan who is spending her winter break in Malaysia. She is now pursuing her linguistic studies in France. She loves to take photos and owns a D40x SLR (envy her). Armed with that, we went photowhoring around KL and Mines while I shared my knowledge in photography so that she can make full use of her SLR. Thanks for the outing and I really enjoyed that. :)
