Kepala Buto Kau!

Shocking, isn't it? Since when I dare to curse publicly over the Internet? Although I admit that I sometimes cursing when having a conversation with my gay male friends.

Not bad for a noob in photoshopping the logo, but I believe SDARian can do better than this :P

Nah, this post is not about me cursing but about an underage boy who open up a group defaming my beloved alma-mater, Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak (SDAR). He might be having some issues with the boy(s) from my school but I believe the view of Bazli Hijan (his FB profile link here), the group creator does not represent the view of all Royal Military College (RMC) students out there. The group page of Kami anti SDAR can be accessed here.

The page was created on 26 January 2012

This is totally childish act by the group creator. In fact, there are some of the boys from RMC do not agree with this boy's act. This shows some of the kids still have some common sense intact to their brains. And for that, you have my respect.

The not-so-jambu group creator :P

Feedbacks from fellow SDARAs (the old boys) are mixed, some prefer to ignore and some urged other fellow SDARAs to report the group to Facebook admin. Nonetheless, we are agreed not to take any retaliatory act upon the group or RMC boys. I hope the boys (our juniors) at school will do the same too.

I'd love to quote Rauhi Isa, my school principal from 2001 until 2003 said, "Orang hebat memang ramai yang dengki" or "Great people is often envied by others".

I shall now let the seniors and students from RMC to rectify this shameful act from one of their rotten apple.

Selamat Hari Guru

To all teachers, you are the best engineer in the world nonetheless, designing and maintaining good civilization throughout the world. :)

Countdown

When I was in SDAR, the blackboard (later whiteboard in our new campus) is divided into two main parts. Occupying let say, 90% of the writing space is for writing lesson materials (eg. notes, diagrams, the usual stuff) and the remaining 10% and located on the right side of the board is for other information such as attendance (which is 100% for most of the day) and countdowns. There are certain types of countdowns appeared. When I was in Form 3, the countdown would be for days before PMR and when I was in Form 5 it was for SPM. But there's another countdown that is applicable to all students in the school, countdown before we leave for vacation at home. This is the moment all students were waiting for. Usually the countdown starts 2 weeks before the day we are allowed to go home and will be updated daily. On the D-day (vacation day), the countdown are updated hourly, and on the last hour (usually the last day of school will be on Friday, so we are allowed to go home after performing Friday prayer at school first) we even updated the countdown every 15 minutes! It just reflected how we were so excited about going home and enjoy some moment of lucidity at home. Free at last! And today, I just can't wait to be at home for mid-semester break! Forget FYP, forget the upcoming Electrical Machines II test and forget everything! This desert of Tronoh is killing me! Hehehehe~

p/s: This countdown is until Operational Management lecture end at 2.00 pm~

Java

The weather currently is very good. Not too hot nor it is raining. It is nice to hang the laundry to dry out there and yet my laundry basket is still full and untouched. What a boring and unproductive weekend. I feel so lazy to do anything right now and this new post is written with a bit of force just to tell myself that this weekend is somewhat productive. Hahaha...

I woke up at around 8 this morning (yeah, I am somewhat... a morning person... hahaha~) and headed straight to my PC, logged into Facebook and play Airline Manager - my current Facebook game addiction. After all the flights have been started, I played FarmVille, doing some harvesting, plowing and seeding job. I bet you can tell me how boring my weekend is. I feel like going out, but my pocket constraints me, making me feel even more boring stuck up in my room.

Browsing through my Facebook profile, somebody posted a wall post on my profile page. He (actually my teacher in SDAR), said something in Javanese language to me. I am not a native Javanese speaker myself but I understand what he said by translating it contextually and based on my understanding. The reason? I was (and still I am) nicknamed Jawa at school. This is where all it start. I remembered that my senior nicknamed Kobau (means "Buffalo" in English) give that name just because I live in Banting. Starting from that day, my friends especially the SDARians call me with that name. When I studied there, I made a few friends outside the school. I introduced myself with my real name first. Then, came my schoolmates calling and yelling me with my nickname, and automatically that name stuck at the tongue of my new friends when they are referring me.

Apart from that, some of my friends called my Asad as contraction to name Afiq SADli. I share the same name with my friend who is also in the same class with me from Form 1 until Form 5. So, we are differentiated by stating our dad's name along with our name. But, this nickname is only limited to my friend of that particular school only. Therefore, I can tell from which school are they when they are calling me with that name. Hehehe... However, the name Jawa is still prevail among my friends even when I entered UTP. As usual, I introduced myself to my new UTP friends that time with my real name, and preferred to be called Afiq but it did not last long. Remember the friends that are from other school I made earlier? Yes, some of them also enrolled in UTP and that is how the name spread. Hahaha~

Well, I guess that could not be helped. It is not a problem with me if my friends called me with my nickname as the nickname itself does not bring any bad meaning. But yet I am not proud of it because that nickname can bring misconception to other people who do not know me that well. and I feel guilty for that, somehow... Yes, like the recent wall post I mentioned above, people will think me I am a pure Javanese and can speak Javanese language very well. Yes, I do have Javanese blood from my dad, I can count from 1 to 10 (only, not more than that) and understand some words in Javanese but my nickname often be the cause of misunderstanding among my friends. Honestly, I can't speak Javanese fluently as my mom is from Negeri Sembilan. So, in our family, we only converse in standard Bahasa Melayu for daily communication. But, I think I am more comfortable with Negeri Sembilan dialect compared to Javanese. Anyway, I preferred to be called with my real name but I have no problem when my friends called me with my nickname. :)

00'4

2000

Aktiviti selepas PMR pula diisi dengan pelbagai aktiviti berfaedah seperti tayangan wayang gambar 'The Legend of Speed III'.

It seems like we owned the school during that time.

I really admired your bravery and determination in defending the truth, dude! To my fellow Warisan 00'4, happy 5th birthday to ourselves lads!

Rejuvenate!

Ia mengejar kecemerlangan tanpa lupa daratan,
Berperwatakan hebat, bersopan,
Sejauh mana kejayaan ditempa,
Balik mencium tangan ibu bapa,
Di barisan hadapan sebagai pembela,
Ilmu di dada menabur jasa,
Semakin memuncak cita-cita,
Semakin tunduk pada yang Esa.
I first read this long way back at year 2000. And today I found this again from my friend who quote this on his Facebook page. Thanks dude. This quotation really brings back memory to me. And each and every sentences brought deep meaning to me, making me reassess myself. It has been about five years since I left the place where I first read this beautiful and meaningful quote, am I complying to what this quote tries to say? Did this quote have done something good to me, moulding me to be a better person now? I really need to understand this quote deeply before I can untangle all of the confusions that I am enduring now. Somehow, despite horrendous period of final year study in UTP now, this quote has remind me about my aim, my focus in life. It is very rejuvenating when I discover this precious piece of words that I have been forgotten long ago. :)

SDAR Open Day 2009

Last Saturday I had my chance to go to the good ol' Seremban to attend SDAR Open Day 2009 at my beloved alma-mater, Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak. I'm not alone in this trip as my former 5 Al-Razi classmate, Zulfaqar a.k.a Kamek also accompanied me to SDAR. I had to wait for him for almost an hour at Seremban railway station as he was stucked at Labu railway halt for almost 30 minutes! Anyway, it worth the wait dude.

We arrived at SDAR at about 12.30 p.m. The open day was awesome as always! That's the tradition of SDARian since they moved into the new Sg. Gadut campus in 2002. Remembering my tenure in SDAR, I was form 3 during the first year of SDAR in new premise. This year featured the must-have dodol and bahulu baking to go with it. There are a lot of booths that sell food and other merchandise. For the first time, this year's open day invited Bunkface to entertain the visitor. Despite the problematic audio system during performance and mixed responses from the teachers (you know what I mean, hehehe...), I really enjoyed the show as the other SDARians do. I and Kamek managed to meet some of the teachers there like Pn. Khalijah (my BM teacher), Pn. Salmiah (my History teacher), Pn. Norliza (school counselor), Mariana sensei (Japanese language teacher cum my redax advisor back then), Mr. Zaili (my French teacher), Pn. Zainah, Cik Mardiana, Mr. Ibrahim (Pendidikan Seni), Mr. Jalaluddin, Mr. Shahriman Pearl, Ustaz Zaidi, Mr. Sahak (PK HEM), Pn. Norzila (PK) and the principal, Hj. Azam. I had also met the non-academic staff like Kak Limah and Abg. Razi who were busy at dodol department.

Apart from meeting the teachers, non-academic staff and juniors (like Mamsot and the others, sorry guys, I don't recall your names but I never forget your faces) I also take oppurtunity walking around the school like my former class (5R), the dining hall, my dorm (C6 - I would like to apologize the inmates of C6 as I had slept on one of their beds, can't resist the latex matress feel) and the former Redax room (I heard Redax had been disbanded for several issues). It was a refreshing walk for me, I wish I could have more time and was allowed to stay there... huhuh...

I stayed at SDAR until 6.00 p.m. chattering with the students. It was really enjoyable and I congratulate to this year's fivers for the success of organizing such a great event! I hope the next year's fivers will continue the tradition for the next open day in 2010. I would also like to thank to Pn. Zainah for the dodol (frankly, it tastes good and I like the texture very much!) and the teachers and students for the great day out I had in SDAR last Saturday. Thank you and I will never forget this moment after 5 years leaving SDAR. I hope I can come again next year with more Warisan 00'4 batchmate with me. :)

Commemorating Warisan 004

I am in the third year of my study in UTP and currently undergoing industrial internship. That means I have been in UTP for four years, starting from July 2005. That also means it has been four years since I left SDAR. How can I forget my beloved alma-mater that has moulded me and provided me platform to be at where I am today. “Once A SDARian is Always A SDARian”, that shall never fade from my soul.

The Warisan 004 members

Today is the day, back in year 2000 when I first enrolled in Sekolah Dato’ Abdul Razak, Seremban. Being a boys’ school, the atmosphere is definitely different but I really cherished the chance that had been awarded to me, that is to study there. My batch was called “Warisan 004” back then. I am lucky to have ‘tasted’ both Jalan Sikamat campus and the current Sungai Gadut campus.

2002

Back in Jalan Sikamat, I cannot forget the Megaway Cendol, G Cybercafe, Mak Ngah’s ‘fly food’ (I only remembered coke susu) and going to Seremban Centrepoint by foot since there are no buses passed by (the yellow Statecoach buses).

In the new campus, everything had been completely changed, positive changes I mean. The ‘lifestyle’ had improved, seniority had been redefined to a better meaning and I really enjoyed my years there. Nothing much can be said for the new campus as it is very secluded, restricting our access to the outer world compared to the Jalan Sikamat campus (SMS Seremban now). Our hope relied on taxi to get us to Seremban, the buses were rarely seen and we had rubber and palm oil plantations flanking us. The best thing for me there is the Merdeka Walk, hosting the Wind Orchestra for three consecutive years and cross-country. Yes, we really mean cross-country since our track were the mixture of tarmac in front of our school, then entered the palm oil plantation, climbing up the hill and descended to the rubber plantation before reaching to the finishing point at our school. Not to forget, Nasi Goreng Warden (Waha’s are the best, Langay is OK too), RM 1.50 with chicken to fill our stomach for supper.

With Nenek, our lagendary science teacher~

Today, everything has changed. That includes my fellow Warisan comrades as well. Today we are scattered around the globe, locally and abroad, pursuing studies in various disciplines in various languages (Japanese, Germany, French, English, and Russian, to name a few). I’m really proud of you guys. Hope we can meet again reminiscing our nostalgic moments in our beloved alma-mater. I dedicate this post to my fellow Warisan 004 and I’m wishing all of you a happy and prosperous life, now and in the future. I’d really appreciate if you guys can share the most remembered moment back in SDAR by commenting this post. :)

Sekolah Kluster and Universiti Apex

Feeling bored in my room. So I just browsed the net, I dropped by at government-biased newspaper Utusan to update myself with current issue. As usual, reading the local politic news article is undoubtedly government-biased, I clicked on 'Pendidikan' (Education) section. I learnt that my beloved Alma-mater, Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak (class of 2000-2004) had been listed as one out of 30 schools that is receiving 'Sekolah Kluster' title. With this recognition, the schools are entitled to apply for financial support worth up to RM 500,000 from the government to implement the predetermined programs or activities. This is a very good sign for SDAR to step up the school's reputation and achieving excellence in education. Full news link here.

As for Universiti Teknologi Petronas (where I currently studying) has undergone selection process for 'Universiti Apex' program. This status will give the enlisted university to have autonomous power in financial, procurement scheme, management, student enrolment, high committee and tuition fees price. I hope UTP will be selected into this program as the result can be made known this August. I was informed that my friend Nasrul from Civil Engineering had presented a presentation to the selection panels regarding the Civil Engineering Department. I am very proud since I belongs to these two education institutions. Read the news here.

Those were the days

Feeling so bored in my room. So, I just flipped one of my picture albums and was attracted to these pictures. These were the pictures of my schoolmates (in the so called 'gay' school, hahah~ we are always in gay-mind your English before making any assumptions!). We are on our own path and are spread around the globe. So, I just put these pictures just to remind about the life that has significantly mould us to be like what we had achieved today. If you were in these pictures, do drop comments. Huhuhuh~

While waiting for turn to take class photos for SEDAR 2004 magazine. Redax photoshoot. Sape2 yg gamba die tpotong tu bleh gak komen kalo korg kenal diri sniri walaupon separoh. Hahaha~
